User testing pays people to try websites, apps, or prototypes and talk through what they notice. It is not a salary and not a full-time job. Test volume changes week to week.

Start with short, unmoderated tests

If you want the lowest time commitment, look at Userbrain first. The official tester site advertises a flat rate per test and PayPal payouts. UserTesting is larger, uses PayPal only, and usually pays completed tests about two weeks later. Neither one charges a fee to apply on the pages we reviewed.

When studies pay more, screens get tighter

Userlytics advertises a wider per-test range and PayPal every 15 days. Respondent pays through Tremendous and is open globally, but many studies want a specific job title. Test IO is software testing rather than marketing-site usability: you complete academy courses before customer work, and pay goes to PayPal or a bank account.

How to choose

Match the device you already own. Most of these tests need a computer and a microphone. If a platform is not available in your country, skip it instead of using a VPN — that usually violates their rules and can get a payout withheld.
